Really disappointed
I’ve been with Lionwood for over 13 years. Been struggling with menopause symptoms really badly specifically anxiety and insomnia I can be awake from 1am and that’s it. Tried to get an appointment before it escalates and makes me feel worse. Only thing I have to wait…. 4 weeks or maybe more. I am trying to hold down a full time job and I’m struggling with no sleep I submitted a form 3 times explaining how bad it is currently but nothing. If I had just contacted with bad anxiety would the ... y have seen me the same day or still made me wait. Really disappointed the way this surgery has become. If I could sign up at either Lawson Road or Magdalen I would.

Poor
I am the career for the patient and took her to the doctor's for a blood test after the nurse wrote in the patient note section a load of assumptions and untruths based on her opinion and not facts this has cause stress and anxiety to my patient this practice should be looked into and stopped people should not assume just by looking if they had look at the full picture and not the five minutes they spent with them they would have seen a much more complexed condition, it's totally unprofessional.

Dreadful and rude
The worst doctors I have even been to the do not listen or care about anyone's needs but it doesn't matter because the patient is the only one who suffers
  • Lionwood Medical Practice

Dear Mr Haynes, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you felt this way about your experience. We note that these concerns were not raised with us while you were registered at the practice, which meant we did not have the opportunity to address or investigate them at the time. We always encourage patients to share any issues or concerns directly with us so we can work to resolve them promptly. We understand you are now registered with another surgery, and we genuinely hope that your current practice is able to meet your needs and provide the care and support you deserve. Patient feedback is important to us, and we take all comments seriously as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our services. Many thanks Lionwood Medical Practice

Lack of treatment
I was in severe pain and they assumed it was related to my back after only speaking to me over the phone. I pushed a bit more and they agreed I did need to see somebody but there were no appointments available so I should go to the walk in centre.
The person there told me to go to A&E who discharged me with no diagnosis or treatment so I called the GP again as I was still in pain. I was told to take more painkillers. I insisted I needed more help and was seen face-to-face, and fair do's she did
... examine me. In the end I went private because all they could offer was a referral to physio or ortho which I knew would take a very long time. I was given injections which soothed the pain.

On line appointment
I've been ill all week, went on line to make a appointment, but the only dates they offered were in 2 weeks , If you need same day appointment it's impossible, and never with a Doctor, So have to go up the hospital to gp, Had a little wait but was seen by a doctor who prescribed antibiotics!!! ,So if I had waited 2 weeks I would have been very ill and probably ended up in hospital!!!

Useless service.
Useless service, told that I would get a call back, no call was received. Prescribed medication when not even needed and not explained to why I was prescribed the meds.

Distressing and inaccessible diabetes review appointment
The appointment on 2 December 2025, which was an annual diabetes review with a nurse named Hannah, was a very distressing experience.

As a wheelchair user, I am often made to feel rushed during appointments. It takes me longer to communicate what I am trying to say, but I was not given adequate time to do so and felt unheard throughout the consultation.

During the appointment, Hannah insisted that I have three blood pressure readings taken back-to-back, which caused unnecessary discomfort
... and distress. No clear explanation was given as to why this was required at that time.

She also insisted that I attend more frequent reviews based on a poor or barely perceptible pulse in my left leg. I explained that this is a congenital condition I was born with, but this information did not appear to be taken into account.

During the foot check, comments were made about my toenails that made me feel very self-conscious and uncomfortable. My feet have been affected by past trauma and abuse, including repeated fractures to my toes, and this should have been approached with greater sensitivity and care.

I was also asked to be weighed using scales that were not safely accessible. The scales did not have a grab rail, meaning I had to let go of my support in order to be weighed. This put me at risk and made me feel unsafe. Disabled patients should not be placed in situations where their safety is compromised due to inadequate equipment or lack of reasonable adjustments.

Called for possible chest infection
Gave all my symptoms and told to go to pharmacy and ask for antibiotics which i did.
They don't do this so called lionwood back to be told go to walk in centre or call back tomorrow.I explained I did this this morning and was sent to the pharmacy. No appointments left today. I never go to the gp and the one time I need to they fob me off with the pharmacy.

Poor IT set up
On multiple occasions the IT on line service's offered by the lionwood medical practice fail to operate correctly. After meeting one of the managers and the provider of the IT services recently I was assured that a thourgh review of the IT systems was being conducted and they were confident that they could provide a much better service. Unfortunately not the case as it turns out. Just today when logged onto their website I received the message," 0pps page 224 cannot be found at the moment." Cons ... equently I couldn't leave a message on line and was forced to send the message via a text. However the practice has never yet responded to any text that I have sent them this far so I don't expect any sort of response. The IT issues have been ongoing for the last three years....

Very supportive, approachable, good staff
Very supportive, helpful reminders by text about appointments which is good. Booking an appointment can be difficult, they don't allow you to book at reception, you have to do it by phone and you end up in a long queue that moves very slowly. It's a long process which is a shame but they're very good. Good nurses and good doctors. It's nice and clean and the staff are approachable, and the water machine in reception is good.
